Stellenbosch

First planted in 1679, the Stellenbosch district is the second oldest wine region in South Africa and is responsible for around 14% of the country's annual wine production. Wines made from or containing the uniquely South African Pinotage grape variety can be savoured during wine tasting at most cellars in this region.

From just two African Penguin breeding pairs in the early 80’s, the colony has grown to about 3000 in recent years. Boulders still remains the only place in the world where one can actually swim amongst the penguins.

Superb Scenery

Chapmans Peak
A spectacular road, known as Chapman's Peak Drive, hugs the near-vertical western face of the mountain from Hout Bay to Noordhoek. Hacked out of the face of the mountain between 1915 and 1922, the road was at the time regarded as a major feat of engineering. Chapman's Peak Drive is part of the route of two of South Africa's biggest mass-participation races, the Cape Argus Cycle Race and the Two Oceans Marathon.
